Celebrating the 12th Annual Lagois Charity Golf Tournament for RMHCO

On Friday, September 24th, golfers gathered at Manderley on the Green in North Gower for a gorgeous day of golf in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Ottawa. The team at Lagois are a dedicated bunch who are committed to serving and giving back to their community. For 12 years, RMHCO has been the lucky recipient of Lagois’ annual Golf Tournament proceeds.

This year thanks to the record number of golfers that participated, Lagois raised $16,384 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Ottawa.

The day was fun, light-hearted, and beautifully sunny. There were beginner golfers, golfing veterans, themed teams, and lots of past tournament participants. Many golfers remembered the impact that their past participation has had on the House, bringing up special memories that were shared with them previously, and inquiring about how the House and families have held up through the challenges that COVID-19 has presented.

This past pandemic year and a half have been challenging for all industries, and on top of COVID-19, the team at Lagois suffered the devastating loss of their long-time team member, Chris Parish. Chris made a real mark on RMHCO, spearheading the redesign of our beloved playroom and playing a very large part in our kitchen renovation. He always entered the House with a big smile and genuine enthusiasm for helping create a more playful, functional, warm, and welcoming space for the families that called RMHCO ‘home’, and those that would do so in the future.

Moving forward, Lagois’ annual golf tournament will be named The Chris Parish Memorial Golf Tournament supporting Ronald McDonald House.

We remain incredibly grateful for the impact that Chris has made on our House and his legacy will continue to be honoured by each little one that grabs a toy from the playroom, each family that prepares a midnight snack or makes a cup of tea in our kitchen, and the staff and volunteers that crossed his path.

On behalf of the families that call RMHCO ‘home,’ thank you to the team at Lagois for hosting a beautiful day on the golf course. The sun was shining, the laughs were plentiful, and we are so appreciative of your continued support.
