Fridays at the Front Desk

Upon moving to Ottawa and looking to build a new network Patricia learned about a family who had used the Ronald McDonald House just outside of CHEO while their daughter received treatment at the Hospital. Fast forward two years later and Patricia can now be found at our front desk every Friday ensuring that families and staff alike have the support they need to do their jobs.

Welcoming families to the House and walking them through their new space is a job that Patricia takes great pride in. She makes them instantly comfortable with her warm nature and positive attitude, bringing light to what can otherwise be some very dark days.

Patricia shares one sweet memory of a time when volunteers lined themselves up to have their hair temporarily dyed. She walked out of the House that day and could not have been prouder of her new pink hair.

“The look of joy on her face just brought tears to my eyes and I thought; that’s why I’m here, this is why I do this. I love every minute of it.”

Thank you, Patricia, for your unwavering commitment to supporting RMH Ottawa families and staff. It is truly inspiring and the House would not run the same without our wonderful volunteers.
