On Monday, August 8th we welcomed friends from all levels of government and across the city to join us in celebrating an incredible investment in the future of Ronald McDonald House Charities Ottawa (RMHC Ottawa).
We are thrilled to share that Infrastructure Canada and the Federal Government will be contributing $9.37 million from the Green and Inclusive Community Building (GICB) Program to help our House make room for everyone. With this grant, our 38-year-old House will grow from 14 guest suites to 36, with plans to provide an additional 7,307 Nights of Comfort for families in need each year.
Alumni families, McDonald’s Owner/Operators, members of our Board of Directors, and supporters across the community were on hand to celebrate on Monday morning.
Our incredibly talented architects at IDEA design will be designing and delivering a building that is not only sustainable in energy usage, but also in other aspects, such as; materials and resources, water efficiency, sustainable sites, and, most importantly, indoor environmental quality.
We are making room for everyone. This $18.9 million project is made possible thanks to the generosity and support from Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, our dedicated team of local McDonald’s Owner/Operators, many community members who have made generous donations to this project, and the incredible generosity of the Federal Government.
It was an exciting day to share the good work RMHC Ottawa does in our community with local politicians and media outlets. We were proud to welcome Minister Fortier into the House to share our expansion plans.
There is still more money to be raised. If you are interested in helping us complete our fundraising goal, please contact Campaign Director, Cynthia Little, to learn about how you can contribute to our net-zero expansion project set to break ground in 2023.
