Each and every one of our employees and volunteers are required to comply with privacy policies designed to protect the confidentiality of your personal information. Our staff and volunteers are authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the reason(s) for which it was obtained. It is our duty to safeguard your personal information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity and ensure that information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was gathered.

We only collect and use your personal information with your knowledge and consent and limit the purposes to the following:

Families and Visitors:
The purpose of collecting personal information about family members and their visitors is to:

• determine a family member's needs and eligibility to stay at the House;
• meet their needs during their stay;
• consult with health care professionals as necessary;
• arrange for and receive any payments;
• provide follow-up support as required;
• keep them informed about programs, services, special events and opportunities to volunteer or to donate;
• allow effective administration of Ottawa's Ronald McDonald House and its policies.

Financial Donors, Event Participants and Sponsors:
The purpose for collecting personal information about financial donors, event participants and sponsors is to:

• thank them for their financial support;
• maintain tax records as required by law;
• send out charitable donation receipts;
• establish and maintain donor relationships;
• keep them informed about programs, services, special events and opportunities to volunteer or to donate;
• respond to a request made by a lawful authority or for other purposes required by law.

We never disclose your personal information, unless required by law, without your knowledge and consent.

Unless you advise us otherwise, by receiving or reading this Privacy Policy, you are deemed to have given us your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
